Global Impact Goes Green (and You Can, Too!)
During more than a half century of service, Global Impact has seen and reported on the most devastating consequences of the evolving global climate: droughts, famine, natural disasters, disease.
We have taken steps to reduce our “footprint,” or the impact our daily activities have on the environment. In honor of Earth Day (April 22), we ask our readers to do the same. Throughout April, those who make an online donation of $75 or more will receive a limited-edition tote bag, made using recycled soda bottles.
Climate Changes Increase Malaria Outbreaks
It all starts with a seemingly harmless mosquito bite. Typically, malaria is confined to tropical regions, also home to a disproportionate amount of the world's poor. However, as climate patterns change, so too do patterns of outbreaks, forcing vulnerable communities to adapt in order to protect lives and livelihoods.
Alternative Energy Solutions Reduce Burdens on Poor Families, the Environment
In the developing world, the majority of greenhouse gases originate from three critical tasks: lighting, cooking and farming. Combining efforts to reduce emissions and support communities in need, Global Impact member charities offer families (and the planet) a breath of fresh air.
