Today, 72 million primary school-aged children are not in school, and two-thirds of those uneducated children are girls. Access to safe schools, trained teachers, textbooks, supplies and tuition fees can help to break the brutal cycle of poverty. Without intervention, however, millions of students will not make it past the fifth grade or have the opportunity to attend school at all.
