Global Impact Goes Green (and You Can, Too!)

During more than a half century of service, Global Impact has seen and reported on the most devastating consequences of the evolving global climate: droughts, famine, natural disasters, disease. Our more than 50 premier international relief and development member charities are in the field working day after day to lessen the environment’s toll on individuals, communities and the planet.

Over the years, Global Impact has taken steps to reduce our “footprint,” or the impact our daily activities have on the environment. For example, Global Impact:

  • Global Impact Tote Bag
    Be a Global Impact "Green Giver" and receive a tote made from recycled soda bottles.
    Does not send direct mail, meaning you will never receive a paper solicitation;

  • Works with printers that are certified members of the Forest Stewardship Council, and prints materials on recycled paper using soy ink. We minimize the number of paper copies produced by posting electronic versions of all materials on our website, www.charity.org;

  • Encourages employees to discard everyday paper in recycle bins placed throughout offices;

  • Subsidizes the cost of public transportation for employees and encourages telecommuting, reducing the amount of greenhouse gases emitted while driving to work.
  • In honor of Earth Day (April 22), we invite you to “go green” with Global Impact by taking a few simple actions during April:

    1. Calculate Your Footprint: Use this calculator from Yahoo to determine your own footprint, and discover how to create an environmentally friendly household.

    2. Release Hot Air: Tell your friends and family to sign up for the Global Citizen e-newsletter and read how Global Impact and its member charities are reducing the impact of global warming on the developing world. Tell us how you take action against global warming, and we will post your story in an upcoming edition of the e-newsletter.

    3. Share Some GreenMake an online donation of $75 or more in April and you will receive a limited-edition Global Impact tote bag made from recycled soda bottles and be listed as a “green giver” on our website. Your contribution not only ensures unrestricted funding to support member charity programs, but also saves paper!

    Happy Earth Day from Global Impact! We look forward to hearing your stories and working together to assure help for the world’s most vulnerable people.
