Renée S. Acosta is the President of Global Impact, where she oversees policy development and implementation, fundraising and management. She is also responsible for two of the world’s largest employee giving campaigns: the Combined Federal Campaign–Overseas (CFC-O) and the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA).
Ms. Acosta assumed her Global Impact role in 1993. During her tenure, the organization grew in annual revenue from $12 million to $110.4 million and raised more than $1.4 billion for charitable organizations worldwide.
Under Ms. Acosta’s leadership, Global Impact received Honorable Mention for The Washington Post Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management in 2010; Arab American Institute Foundation’s 2007 Kahlil Gibran “Spirit of Humanity” Award for International Achievement; the E-philanthropy 2006 award for technology innovations in campaign management software; the National Alliance for Choice in Giving 2004 Excellence Award for distinguished performance, leadership and innovation in the field of workplace giving campaign management; Partnership Award from Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen; numerous awards from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management for innovation and leadership for management of the CFC-Overseas and the CFCNCA; and the Humanitarian Service Award, Heifer International.
Ms. Acosta’s career in the philanthropic arena includes previous positions as Director, Public Sector Programs, United Way of America; Vice President, Strategic Development, United Way Sacramento Area; President, Diabetes Association of Sacramento; and a variety of program and administrative positions prior to 1980. She represents Global Impact at the prestigious Clinton Global Initiative, an organization established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton as a means to inspire, connect and empower a community of global leaders to forge solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.
Ms. Acosta is also President of Global Reach, where she serves as a thought leader and innovator, facilitating the creation of joint endeavors among NGOs, private companies and the government. Born in Wisconsin and raised in Sacramento, California, she was named Woman of the Year (Sacramento, California) and YWCA Young Woman to Watch. She is currently a member of the Bretton Woods Committee.
