Former U.S. President Bill Clinton, fashion designer Giorgio Armani and wife to the Prime Minister of the U.K., Sarah Brown, among others, helped compile a list of the Harper's Bazaar 21st Century Heroine nominees. The 20 female super-power nominees whose actions, faith and determination made a difference in the world are featured in the January 2010 issue of Harper's Bazaar. Included among these nominees is the Women for Women International CEO, Zainab Salbi.
Ms. Salbi is the founder of Women for Women International, a humanitarian organization that provides financial and emotional support to women survivors of war. President Clinton, who nominated Zainab Salbi, said "What makes Zainab one of the most inspiring women I've met is not her amazing personal story, but what she has done with it."
Harper's Bazaar quotes Ms. Salbi in this special edition of the publication as saying "Always smile....My smile is my victory. My smile is my resilience."
