Giving. Simplified. Global Impact Releases 2009 Annual Report
Impressive Results Reflect Leadership in International Philanthropy
Alexandria, VA (December 4, 2009) - Global Impact, a leader in international philanthropy, announced today the release of the fiscal year 2009 Annual Report: "Giving. Simplified." The theme captures the essence of Global Impact: the organization exists because of the shared human need to give, to alleviate suffering, fight disease, educate, comfort and offer hope. The report's figures reflect Global Impact's success of raising even more money to help others than in the previous year, despite the economic downturn.
As the report demonstrates, each accomplishment points toward making charitable giving effective and efficient at every level. Highlights of the positive outcomes from the past year include:
- Raising $131.9 million from 300,000 donors that benefited millions of people through the work of more than 18,000 charities;
- Vital management and marketing for the two Combined Federal Campaigns raising $78.6 million last year which accounted for 72% of all new funds raised nationwide by over 240 CFCs last year;
- Increasing the number of employees able to give to international causes by almost half a million from the private sector;
- An array of online giving tools to make pledging convenient and easy; and,
- Assuring help for more than 400 million people in need.
"Global Impact's efficiency, accountability and transparency mirror the best practices of the not-for-profit sector," states James B. Kanuch, CPA, chair of the Audit Committee and member of the Global Impact Board of Directors. "Its business model ensures financial stability and an increasingly public profile as a leader in philanthropy and wise governance."
Global Impact adheres to a rigorous series of checks and balances that ensure transparency and sound financial management. These practices result in a series of excellent ratings including the Charity Navigator Four-Star Rating, for the fifth consecutive year, for exceeding industry standards and outperforming most charities in international philanthropy; Seal Holder status from the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance, for the fourth consecutive year, for meeting all its 20 standards for charity accountability; and, an administrative and fundraising expense ratio of 5.16%, a small fraction of the 35% deemed acceptable by the Better Business Bureau.
